The all-weather course at Wolverhampton forms a flat, left-handed oval circuit of just under a mile in length. The bends are fairly sharp and with a narrow straight of under two furlongs it favours horses with the ability to hold a good position as opposed to those who need time to find full stride. In , the polytrack surface was replaced with a brand new Tapeta track. This made Wolverhampton the first British course to adopt the new artificial surface, which was already popular with many venues in North America. As the racecourse is located in the city itself, it is very easy to get to and is served by a regular bus service from Wolverhampton Bus Station. Once there, visitors can enjoy racing fixtures throughout the year as well as music events, conferences and other attractions.

Groceries, pet food, sweets and DIY goods will be among the items on offer to shoppers when Wolverhampton’s markets reopen this weekend. Wolverhampton Council has now confirmed which stalls will be open when the markets open back up in Bilston, Wednesfield and the city centre on Saturday. Visitors to the markets will have to follow strict guidelines, council bosses said, with a guided one-way system leading shoppers from separate entrances and exits.
Different stalls will gradually be allowed to operate under a phased approach to fully reopening the markets. During the first phase on Saturday, visitors will be able to buy meat, poultry, fish, cheese, cooked meats, frozen foods, bakery products, fruit and vegetables, pet supplies, confectionary and household goods including electrical, DIY, hardware and cleaning products. The plans may change depending on feedback and the level of compliance to social distancing rules.
The council announced the markets would be reopening earlier this week, with the city tips also expected to soon open back up. Councillor Steve Evans, Wolverhampton Council’s cabinet member for city environment, said: “We will have a phased and managed approach to get markets back up and running. England, United Kingdom. A Met Office warning has been issued for strong winds on Friday. The yellow warning, covering the whole of the West Midlands, warns of strong winds between and tomorrow. It could lead to some travel disruption and some temporary power disruption, the Met Office says. The leaders of seven councils across the West Midlands are calling for “clear and simple” messaging from central government about Covid restrictions as cases rise in the region.
In a joint statement with six other councils in the West Midlands – Coventry, Sandwell, Solihull, Dudley, Walsall and Wolverhampton – Birmingham City Council urged people and businesses to remain alert to the risks of coronavirus. Of “immediate concern” to the leaders, the statement says, is the enforcement of face covering use by supermarkets and the collection of customer details by bars and restaurants. Birmingham council leader Ian Ward said: “It is now getting to the point where many people and businesses are confused and unsure about what they can and cannot do.
BBC Weather Watchers. A police federation boss has written to the transport secretary calling for changes in legislation to better protect officers from drivers “who appear content to use their vehicle as a weapon”. Tim Rogers, the deputy chair of the West Midlands Police Federation, said police officers were being injured “more and more” by people speeding off after being pulled over. Last year, PC Gareth Phillips nearly died when he was run over by thieves in Moseley, Birmingham, and more recently an officer was injured after being dragged 15m by a moving car through Sparkhill.
Mr Rogers is calling for officers to be given authority to demand drivers turn off their engines and step out of their vehicles to “minimise” the risk to the police force. BBC Weather.
